detoxing after work
Although
you might have had a busy, exciting, and productive week, you need some time to
relax and rejuvenate. Not only does your body need to physically recover, your
mind does, too.
Here
are eight ways to de-stress when you’ve just had enough.
1. Spend time with family and friends
Remember
that these people are the most important in your life. At the end of the day,
your success depends on how you balance your life, happiness, and
relationships.
2. Let your subconscious do the
problem-solving
Realize
that your biggest breakthroughs are from passive thinking. Divert your
attention to something else and let your subconscious find the answer.
3. Reflect on your performance
Make
sure you rate yourself for both your professional and personal goals. See if
you accomplished them, handled tough decisions, and what you will do
differently. This will allow you to improve yourself week by week.
4. Disconnect as much as possible
Make
sure that you take a mental break from work. This includes turning your email
and phone off from time to time. It allows you to flush out work-related
stresses.
5. Read something
When
you read something you enjoy, you go to another world that allows you to absorb
wisdom and improve yourself and your work.
6. Sleep in
Even
if it is just for an additional hour, you will wake up feeling far more
refreshed. Allow yourself to wake up naturally from time to time so you wake up
to the sunlight instead of your alarm going off.
7. Cook a meal
This
ritual of cooking forces you to slow down and connect to what you prepare for
yourself. When we are in the work week, we find ourselves not sitting down to
eat, just eating processed food, and taking it on the go. Cooking a meal allows
you to connect with those in your life.
8. Drink water
We
often ignore the fact that we are mainly dehydrated during the work week. We
need to purposely replenish our fluids that we lose due to stress, poor diet,
lack of sleep, and lack of time.
